FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
  1. How will reenlistments work?
First term MOS 3043 and MOS 3051 Marines will form the population pool to re-enlist into a MOS 3047 boat space.

  2. What is the eligibility requirement for SCMC?
To attend the SCMC, the Marine must be a 3043 or 3051 Corporal and below, or a 3047 Sergeant. Additionally, the Marine must have already re-enlisted or have been approved for re-enlistment. This course is targeted at those career Marines transitioning from their first-term.

  3. Do Marines really need to cross train if they are going to SCMC?
Absolutely! SCMC is a career-level course training to core-plus (2000 level) T&R events. It will be assumed students attending this course are competent in all 3043 and 3051 core (1000 level) events and instruction will build upon that foundation.

  4. Do Marines already promoted to staff sergeant as of 1 Oct 2024 need to complete SCMC?
No, Marines who were already a Staff Sergeant or higher on 1 Oct 2024 are grandfathered and do not require SCMC for additional promotion.

  5. If a Marine has already taken the legacy SCMIC or SCMIC MTT course, do they need to attend the SCMC for promotion?
No, despite it being a different school code, any Marine who has previously taken SCMIC, regardless of their rank or MOS at the time, has met the requirement of SCMC for promotion to Staff Sergeant.

  6. Can 3047 SNCOs attend SCMC?
Yes, however, the target audience for the course is corporal and sergeant and they will take priority since the course is now a promotion requirement.

  7. Will SCMC be a prerequisite to attend the Supply Chain Manager Advance Course (SCMAC)?
Yes, SCMC will still be a prerequisite for SCMAC. Based on the requirement for SCMC prior to promotion to SSgt, the only Marines eligible for SCMAC without having taken SCMC are those who were 3043/3051 SNCOs prior to the merge and became 3047 without SCMC. In this case, Marines must understand the pace of the two courses is different and Marines should attend the course that matches their knowledge level. We anticipate requests for waivers and will rely on respective G4s to determine if the individual Marine has the requisite experience to attend.

  8. How will the monitors work?
There will be an MSgt monitor to manage 3043 and 3051 populations. There will be a MGySgt monitor to manage the 3047 population.

  9. How will lateral moves work?
Corporals and below may be eligible to lateral move into 3043 or 3051 and will be required to attend the appropriate course for the MOS: Supply Chain Management Basic Course (SCMBC) for 3043, or Inventory Management Basic Course (IMBC) for 3051. Upon promotion to Sergeant, they will obtain the 3047 MOS and must meet the same SCMC requirement for promotion to SSgt. Sergeants and above may be eligible to lateral move into 3047. They will be required to attend the SCMBC course. Upon graduation, they will be awarded the 3047 MOS. Sergeants will still need to meet the same SCMC requirement for promotion to SSgt. SNCOs are not required to attend SCMC for future promotions but are encouraged to attend SCMC or SCMAC based on their knowledge level.
