Ground Supply School
First Sergeant Jose A. Rios Jr.

First Sergeant Rios enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on March of 2005, out of Houston, TX. On 6 September 2005, he was
shipped to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA, where he was a member of India Company, Third Recruit
Training Battalion. Upon completion of recruit training, he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.

In the following months, First Sergeant Rios attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Pendleton, CA and Personnel Administration
School in Camp Johnson, NC. Upon completion of Personnel Administration School, he attained the Military Occupational Specialty of
0151, Administrative Clerk. Graduating with honors, he was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal.

On 9 March 2006, First Sergeant Rios reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, CA,
where he served as an Admin Clerk, Adjutant Clerk, and CO's Driver. Additionally, he was assigned to the station's Security Augment
Force and Burial Detail Team. He was promoted to Corporal on 1 June 2007. From July 2018 to February 2019, he volunteered to
deploy with I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward, as an Individual Augment, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). While
deployed, he held the billet of Administrative Operations Staff Non-commissioned Officer. On 1 February 2009, he was promoted to
Sergeant.

After returning from deployment, First Sergeant Rios was assigned to Marine Aviation Detachment, China Lake/Point Mugu, CA, on
20 April 2009. During this time, he served as the Admin NCOIC, Career Retention Specialist, Color Sergeant, and the Substance Abuse
Control Officer.

On 15 August 2013, First Sergeant Rios was assigned to 3d Marine Special Operations Battalion where he served as the Admin
NCOIC. On 1 March 2014, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and assumed the duties as the Adjutant and Admin Chief,
simultaneously. On 1 November 2014, he transferred to Marine Special Operations Regiment where he served as the Personnel Chief
and later served as the Admin Chief for Marine Raider Regiment.

On 19 August 2017, First Sergeant Rios transferred to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 162, deploying with the 26th Marine
Expeditionary Unit (MEU), serving as the Aviation Combat Element (ACE) Admin Chief. The squadron was called upon to provide
humanitarian assistance in response to hurricanes Irma and Maria in the United States Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico for Defense in
Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) Operations. Shortly after returning, the 26th MEU deployed, from February 2018 to August 2018,
to the 5th and 6th Fleet area of responsibility. The ACE directly supported MV-22 detachment in Al Asad, Iraq and AV-8B detachment
in Isa, Bahrain, both of which were in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).

Returning from overseas, First Sergeant Rios was assigned to Site Support (Millington, TN), 6th Engineer Support Battalion, on 2
November 2018, to serve as the Admin Chief and Career Planner. On 1 September 2020, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and
assumed the duties as the I-I First Sergeant. During this time, he was recognized as the 2019 Memphis Navy League Marine of the
Year.

On 31 August 2021, First Sergeant Rios executed orders to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific,
Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa, JP, serving as the Personnel Chief for the Installation Personnel Administration Center,
TAD and Deployment Branch. On 1 December 2021, he was hand selected to be the Company A, Company Gunnery Sergeant and later
served as the Company First Sergeant. On 4 April 2023, he assumed the duties as the Battalion Legal Chief.

On 9 May 2024, he was frocked to First Sergeant and assumed the duties as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Ground Supply School,
Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools, Camp Johnson, NC.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of
third award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of third award). He also holds an A.A.S in
Administrative Management Studies from Excelsior.
