Master Sergeant John L. Rodriguez
Recruit Rodriguez attended recruit training at 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Alpha Company, Platoon 1081, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego at the age of 25. Upon completion of recruit training in May of 2006, PVT. Rodriguez attended Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry West at Camp Pendleton. He then attended the Basic Finance Technicians Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina where he was assigned the military occupational specialty 3432, Finance Technician. He was promoted to Private First Class in August 2006.
Private First Class Rodriguez was then assigned to 2d Marine Logistics Group in September of 2006 where he would be meritorious promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in December 2006. While serving at 2nd Marine Logistics Group Lance Corporal Rodriguez Served as a clerk and auditor. In December of 2007 he was promoted Corporal and selected to serve as a paying agent during a 13-month Operation Iraqi Freedom tour.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Corporal Rodriguez was selected to serve as the SSEC/Protocol Chief for the 2nd MLG Fwd Commanding General and the CLR 27 Fwd Commanding Officer. He was Selected for Sergeant and promoted in December of 2009. Sergeant Rodriguez returned to 2d Marine Logistics Group in September of 2006 in January of 2010 and served as a Pay Certifier until being transferred to MARFORRES, New Orleans, Finance Office.
While Serving under the MARFORRES command Sergeant Rodriguez was assigned as the Pay Certifier. Sergeant Rodriguez met his wife, Lisa, while on leave in his hometown and she eventually moved down to New Orleans where they would wed two years later. He completed his Sergeants Residents course in 29 Palms of 2012 and was selected for promotion to Staff Sergeant. Upon Assisting in the closure of the Finance Office in New Orleans, Sergeant Rodriguez received orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Service Company, Disbursing at Camp Lejeune, NC.
Sergeant Rodriguez was promoted to Staff Sergeant in March 2013 at Combat Logistics Regiment 17 and became a father of twin boys, Robbie, and Weston, that same year. Staff Sergeant Rodriguez completed his resident Career School PME at Camp Johnson in the summer of 2015. While Serving at the Disbursing Office on Camp Lejeune he was a Chief of the Pay deck and a Disbursing Chief During the African Lion training evolution in Agadir, Morocco. Staff Sergeant Rodriguez was accepted for recruiting duty in June of 2016 while in Africa and accepted early order for recruiting duty.
Staff Sergeant Rodriguez Completed the Basic Recruiters School in October of 2016 and closed on his first home in Louisville Kentucky where he would be assigned to the 4th Marine Corps District, Recruiting Station Louisville, Recruit Sub Station Louisville North as a canvassing recruiter. After seven months as a canvassing recruiter, Staff Sergeant Rodriguez was selected to the position of a SNCOIC or station commander of one of the sub stations and promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in August of 2018. Towards the end of the tour on recruiting duty Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez and his wife were expecting their third child, a girl. He then took order to MCI - West Regional Disbursing office and executed them in November of 2019.
While stationed at Camp Pendleton, Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez was the section chief for the MCI - West Defense Travel Systems Section and then assigned as a company Gunnery Sergeant under CLR 17 before his wife birthed their daughter, Ellis. Later in that same year he transferred to the Command Element of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and served as the Disbursing Chief and Equal Opportunity Representative for the 11th MEU. Upon completion of the 7-month deployment, Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez was assigned as the Pay and Separations Chief for the MCI - West Regional Disbursing Office from April of 2022 to April of 2023 before being transferred to Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools(MCCSSS), Camp Johnson, North Carolina.
Master Sergeant Rodriguez currently serves as a Formal Instructor, Suicide Prevention Program Officer, and Safety Officer at the Financial Management School.
Master Sergeant Rodriguez's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (third award).
