First Sergeant, Logistics Operations School
First Sergeant Vabian R. Elmore Jr.
First Sergeant Elmore was enlisted in the Marine Corps in March of 2010 and attended recruit training in Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class.

In June 2010 he reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training. He was in transfer to Communications Electronics School, Twenty-Nine Palms, California where he earned the MOS of 0622.

In September 2010 upon completion of school, Private First Class Elmore reported for duty to Marine Wing Combat Squadron-28, Bravo Company, Cherry Point, North Carolina. He was assigned to MUX section where he worked as an operator. He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal on January 2011.

In July 2011 Lance Corporal Elmore received orders to 10th Marine Regiment, Headquarters Battery, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was promoted to Corporal in November 2011. In 2012 deployed to Afghanistan to Operation Enduring Freedom with Headquarters Battalion Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was assigned as Communications non-commissioned officer in charge, for patrol base Fizel. He returned from his deployment in April 2012 and was assigned as section chief for MUX section, Headquarters Battery, 10th Marine Regiment. He was promoted to Sergeant in November 2013.

In January 2014 Sergeant Elmore received orders to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Headquarters and Service Company, Camp Lejeune. North Carolina. In February 2015 he took part of Unit Deployed Program, Okinawa, Japan. He returned from his deployment in July 2015 to attend Sergeant’s course.

In January 2016 Sergeant Elmore reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor School with class 2-16. Upon graduation, Sergeant Elmore was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion. Sergeant Elmore was promoted to Staff Sergeant in April 2017. Staff Sergeant Elmore completed over 8 training cycles with Fox Company; 4 Green Belt cycles, 2 Senior Drill Instructor cycles, and 2 Chief Drill Instructor cycles. SSgt Elmore finished his SDA with a quota rotation in the billet of Ops Chief for 2nd Battalion.

In May 2019 Staff Sergeant Elmore reported to Bravo Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California. SSgt Elmore held the billet of Assistant Communications Chief. In September of 2020 SSgt Elmore was deployed on the 15th MEU with the All-Domain Reconnaissance detachment for 9 months. SSgt Elmore held the billet of Asst. Communications Chief and Headquarters Platoon Sergeant during the deployment. In March 2021 SSgt Elmore was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

In January 2022 Gunnery Sergeant Elmore reported to Officers Candidate School as a sergeant instructor in Quantico, Virginia. During his tour there he completed 7 cycles. He held the billet of Sergeant Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Curriculum Chief and Drill Master. In December 2024 GySgt Elmore was promoted to First Sergeant.

In January 2025 First Sergeant Elmore reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment.  He was temporarily assigned to 26th MEU for SPMAGTF for 5 months until July.  

First Sergeant Elmore’s personal awards include the Good Conduct medal with 4 stars in lieu of fifth award, the Navy Achievement Medal with a gold star in lieu of a second award, the Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award and the Drill Instructor ribbon (2).

First Sergeant Elmore is currently serving at Logistics Operations School as the formal school's First Sergeant.
